Why did Christ Ahnsahnghong come from South Korea?

When people first hear Christ Ahnsahnghong’s name and the fact that He came from Korea, a lot of people seem confused and ask why He should come from that country. I think it is fair for people to feel like that in the beginning because I did not quite understand either before studying the Bible. For this reason, I would like to go over the scriptural references to the coming of Christ, especially the country where he should come from.

First of all, let’s see the prophecy regarding the second coming of Christ.

Heb 9:28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

The Bible clearly testifies He will appear a second time. Then does this coming mean he will come in spirit or in the flesh? Since He is always with us spiritually (Matt 28:20), this coming must be the coming in the flesh. Then, how can we know where he should come from? The Bible says that He will appear to bring salvation and therefore we should pay close attention to where the work of salvation will begin in the last days. Let’s go to Revelation, the book concerning the last days and find a prophecy about this.

Rev 7:1-3 After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree. Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea: “Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.”

The wind stands for the last disaster that has power to harm the land and the sea. However, this disaster is held back until angel who has the seal of God seals all the servants of God who are the people of God who are to be saved. Then, who is this angel coming with the seal of God? The seal is like a person’s signature which only belongs to himself or herself. As I am the only person who can have my signature, God is the only one who can have the seal of God. Therefore, this angel must be God. We can clearly see that God who is bringing salvation through the seal of God should come from the east.

Isa 46:10-11 I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.’ From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that I will bring about; what I have planned, that I will do.

God said from the east he would summon a bird of prey, which means an eagle in the Bible. An eagle in the Bible represents God (Exo 19:4). Therefore, these verses show that God will come from the east as a man to fulfill his purpose, which is salvation.

Isa 41:2-4 “Who has stirred up one from the east, calling him in righteousness to his service ? He hands nations over to him and subdues kings before him. He turns them to dust with his sword, to windblown chaff with his bow… Who has done this and carried it through, calling forth the generations from the beginning? I, the Lord—with the first of them and with the last—I am he.”

Again in the same book of Isaiah, it is prophesied that God will come as a man from the east. Some might say this might refer to the coming of the first coming Christ. However, considering the fact that both Isaiah and Jesus were in the same country Israel, we cannot say Jesus came from the east. Also the Bible says that this Christ must come from a far off land and farthest corner.

Isa 41:8-9 But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham my friend, I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, ‘You are my servant’; I have chosen you and have not rejected you.

Therefore, Christ should come from a country in the east which is also from the ends of the earth and a farthest corner. Then from where should we find this country? Let’s find out the location of Apostle John when he saw the angel coming from the east.

Rev 1:9 I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.

He was in the island of Patmos. Where is it? It is a small island located between Turkey and Greece.

Let’s summarize the main points here.

The country where second coming Christ comes from should meet these two conditions.

  1. The work of salvation should begin there.
  2. From the island of Patmos, it should be located in the east, farthest corner and the ends of the earth.

The only country that fulfills these requirements is South Korea. It is a country in the east located in the farthest corner and the ends of the earth and also the work of salvation, the preaching of the Passover began there. For this reason, Christ Ahnsahnghong came from South Korea. His coming to Korea was not a coincidence but a fulfillment of the biblical prophecy.

Does the Church of God divide families?

Recently I came across an episode from NBC Today show. It featured the World Mission Society Church of God and seemed to hold it accountable for breaking up Rebecca’s family. I was quite offended by this show because it was very one-sided and some of the information was not even accurate. After this show, Rebecca herself had to make some videos to tell her side of the story and correct the wrong information reported on the show. If you would like to see the series of her videos, click on this link.

As a member of the church, let me write a few thoughts on this issue.

1. Does the Church of God divide families?

As you might know already, the Church of God has very different teachings compared to the other churches. For example, the church holds the main worship services on Saturday instead of Sunday. Also the church emphasizes the Passover that most Christians churches do not observe. Above all, the church believes in God the Mother as well as God the Father. However, all these teachings are based on the Bible and I shared a few of them on my website. You can click on the following links if you want to know more about the church’s teachings.

What is the Passover?

Why should we keep the Sabbath?

Why do we believe in Heavenly Mother?

Because of the difference in teachings and practices, church members often face disagreement among their own family members especially when they grew up in different religious backgrounds. It is a similar situation that happens to a newly married couple when a husband and wife have different religious beliefs. Yet, does every couple in this situation divorce? No, a lot of couples work out their differences by respecting each other’s religious belief even if they do not necessarily change their religions. The same thing can be true when this kind of disagreement happens in a family. As long as there is mutual respect for each other’s belief, there should be no problem in families. As a member of the Church of God, I can tell you confidently that the Church never teaches its members not to talk to their families because they are not part of the church. Rather, the church encourages members to practice God’s love in their families, serving them with humility and understanding. In actuality, most members get along well with their family members even though they have different religions.

2. The Church of God promotes family values

Contrary to what NBC Today show reported, the Church of God has promoted the family values through many events. Church members are encouraged to bring their family members who are not church members and they share God’s love and beautiful fellowship with them. If you would like to see the Church of God’s family events along with many other activities, please click on this link.

Every family can have a disagreement. However, as long as each family member respects each other, any issue can be resolved. However, what if one family member labels another as a cult just because he or she has a different belief? In this case, the real problem is not the church or different belief itself but the lack of understanding and respect from that family member. I feel sorry for what happened to Rebecca and her family and hope no one becomes the target of religious intolerance and discrimination in the future due to a misleading and biased news report.

Top 10 Reasons Why the Passover Is so Important

Have you ever heard about the Passover? Some might think of the Jewish Passover but there is the Passover established by Jesus Christ himself. It is often remembered as the last supper which is depicted in the Leonardo da Vinci’s painting “Last Supper.” Surprisingly, not many Christians know the important of this holy day. A day before He died, Jesus emphasized the Passover as follows:

Luke 22:15 And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.

Why did Jesus eagerly desire to eat this Passover? Considering the fact that His only purpose was our salvation (Luke 19:10), this Passover should be closely related to salvation. Then, let’s learn top 10 reasons why this Passover is so crucial for us.

1. The Passover has the promise of eternal life

John 6:53-54 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.

Luke 22:13, 19-20 …So they prepared the Passover…And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

The first reason is that Jesus promised the blessing of eternal life through the Passover. Some people might say believing in Christ is enough but Christ did not say “Whoever believes has eternal life” but said “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life.” Since he said that is the truth, we should not try to interpret it in any different way. The very day that Christ promised his flesh and blood is the Passover. Therefore, whoever keeps the Passover can receive eternal life.

2. The Passover has the promise of the forgiveness of sins

Matt 26:27-28 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

The second reason is that the Passover has the promise of forgiveness of sins. The Bible describes us as sinners who have to die to pay for our sins (Rom 6:23). This means that we are not capable of getting rid of our sins on our own because that requires our own life. However, Christ took away our sins and died for us (John 1:29) and promised the forgiveness of sins on the Passover. Therefore, whoever wants to receive this grace must celebrate the Passover.

3. The Passover has the promise of the kingdom of heaven

Rev 21:4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

The Bible says that the new heaven and new earth that we are going have no death or mourning or crying. This place is the kingdom of heaven. The biggest characteristic of heaven is no death. Therefore, with a mortal body we cannot go to the kingdom of heaven. Only after receiving eternal life through the Passover, can we enter heaven. After Israelites came out of Egypt, they wandered in desert for 40 years. Yet, after they kept the Passover, they could enter the land of Canaan. In the book of Hebrews, Apostle Paul interpreted the event of entering Canaan as that of entering the kingdom of heaven (Heb 4). Therefore, keeping the Passover is very essential for going to the kingdom of heaven.

4. The Passover has the promise of salvation

1 Pet 1:9 for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

According to the Bible, salvation is something we must achieve at the end of our life of faith. If we fail to achieve it, it is not too much to say our life of faith has no meaning. Then we should take this matter seriously and make efforts to find out how to receive salvation. First of all, why do we need salvation? The Bible says that the wages of sin is death (Rom 6:23). Is there any human being who doesn’t die? Everyone does. That means no one is free from sin and death. Therefore, salvation for us is the free from sin and death. Through the Passover, we could receive the forgiveness of sins and eternal life, the life without death. Whoever wants to receive salvation should keep the Passover.

5. The Passover makes us become one body with Christ

1 Cor 10:16-17 Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all share the one loaf.

The Bible says that by participating in the bread and wine, we can become one body with Christ.  We, human beings, cannot go to the kingdom of heaven by ourselves but by becoming one body with Christ who is the owner of the kingdom of heaven. We can participate in the same body and blood through the Passover so therefore we must celebrate the Passover to become one body with Christ.

6. The Passover is the way to keep the first commandment

What is the first commandment in the Bible?

Matt 22:37-38 Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.

The first commandment is to love God with all our heart and soul and mind. Then, how can we keep this command? We can find the answer in the book of 2 Kings.

2 Kings 23:21-25 The king gave this order to all the people: “Celebrate the Passover to the Lord your God, as it is written in this Book of the Covenant.” Neither in the days of the judges who led Israel nor in the days of the kings of Israel and the kings of Judah had any such Passover been observed… Neither before nor after Josiah was there a king like him who turned to the Lord as he did—with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his strength, in accordance with all the Law of Moses.

King Josiah received the credit from God for keeping the first commandment. The only thing he did differently was to celebrate the Passover, that had not been kept for a long time. The Passover makes us love true God only by destroying all others gods (Exo 12:10-12). Therefore, we must celebrate the Passover to keep the most important commandment in the Bible.

7. The Passover contains the love and sacrifice of God

The Passover is often called the last supper because it was the last meal he had with disciples before he died. However, the Passover is not just the last meal but has much more significance for our salvation. It is the day when He promised His flesh and blood through which we can receive eternal life. In order to fulfill this promise, He actually tore His flesh and shed His blood by going through flogging, torture and crucifixion. Some of you might have watched the movie “Passion of Christ” that vividly describes the pain and suffering He experienced until crucifixion. His great suffering was the love for us who deserve to die due to our sins. Whoever believes in God should not reject this great love contained in the Passover.

8. Passover can protect us from disasters

Now we can easily see many types of disasters occurring all over the world. There are natural disasters such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunami, drought and man-made disasters such as war and terrorist attacks not to mention the last disaster prophesied in the Bible. Scientists and doctors are making every effort to make this world a safer place but it is impossible to prevent all these disasters. Rather, there have been more serious disasters in recent times. The Passover has the promise of protection from disasters.

Exo 12:11-13 …it is the Lord’s Passover. “On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn of both people and animals, and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the Lord. The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.

The blood means the Passover lamb’s blood which was painted on the doorframe. God promised that disasters would not come near those who kept the Passover. In the New Testament, we need to keep the new covenant Passover in order to receive the same blessing of protection.

9. True disciples of Christ must celebrate the Passover

Matt 26:18-19 … I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house…So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover.

Jesus directed his disciples to keep the Passover, which means the Passover is something disciples must celebrate. When He ascended to heaven, He commanded his disciples to make new disciples by teaching them everything He commanded.

Matt 28:19-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you

The Passover is clearly a teaching that Christ commanded while He was with disciples. Therefore, true disciples of Christ must celebrate the Passover and teach the Passover.

10. The Passover is the way to return to God

2 Chr 30:1-10 Hezekiah sent word to all Israel and Judah and also wrote letters to Ephraim and Manasseh, inviting them to come to the temple of the Lord in Jerusalem and celebrate the Passover to the Lord, the God of Israel…People of Israel, return to the Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, that he may return to you who are left…

In the time of King Hezekiah, as the king urged North Israelites who had been committing idolatry to come and keep the Passover together, he said, “Return to God.” However, North Israelites refused to keep the Passover and as a result were destroyed by Assyrian army. This means that the only way to return to God is to celebrate the Passover. If you want to repent of our past sins and come closer to God, why don’t you keep the Passover?

There are more reasons to keep the Passover but for the sake of time and the title of this post, let me just keep them 10. I hope readers understand the importance of the Passover better through this post.

Passover and Christ Ahnsahnghong

Last Supper

After reading this article, I came to think about the first time I was invited for the Passover. At that time, I turned down that offer thinking keeping the Passover was not my priority. I was a high school senior who had to focus on college entry exam which presumably would change my future. After doing a couple of more studies about the Passover though, however, I came to realize I made a huge mistake. The Passover was more than a law prescribed in the Bible. It was spiritual treasure that I had been waiting for my entire life.

Unfortunately, not many Christians have known the truth of the Passover. Even though some pastors, priests and other religious leaders know about the Passover, they do not understand the importance of this day. It is sad that they do not find the great treasure even though it is so close to them. There was a man named William Randolph Hearst (April 29, 1863- Aug 14, 1951) who was an American newspaper publisher who built the nation’s largest newspaper chain. He had a habit of collecting antiques and whenever he found some antiques he liked, he visited all possible places that might possess them. As he was reading a magazine, he found a pottery that  he liked. He tried everywhere to find out the owner of this pottery but could not find him. When he was about to give up, there was a news article that mentioned the whereabout of that pottery. According to the article, one American billionaire was the owner and his name was William Randolph Hearst. The pottery he had been looking for was in his warehouse whole time hidden under dust.

Just like Hearst, we might think the truth is very far away from us. For this reason, some people enrolled in the divinity school to deeply study the Bible. Some tried to visit the places mentioned in the Bible to find the way of salvation. Jerusalem city has a great number of visitors every year because many biblical event occurred in that place. However, you do not have to go far to find the treasure of the Bible. Only thing we need to do is to open the Bible. Let’s see what is considered the treasure in the Bible.

Col 2:2-3 My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

The Bible states that in Christ is hidden all the treasures. Then what is this treasure hidden in Christ?

John 10:28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.

The hidden treasure in Christ is eternal life. Then how did Christ tell us we can receive eternal life? As the article mentions, it is through the Passover.

John 6:53-54 Jesus said to them, “I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him.

Matt 26:17-19, 26-28 … He replied, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house…While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke itand gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying,“Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the[a] covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

Isn’t the way to receive eternal life so clear? Christ told us without eating his flesh and blood, we cannot receive eternal life and the only way to do so is to celebrate the Passover. Then how come we have never heard of Christian Passover established by Christ? It is because in 325 AD, this passover was abolished. Christians who tried to keep this feast were severely persecuted and those who wanted to keep this had to escape to mountains and caves. Over the course of time, the Passover began to be forgotten in people’s memories. However, the Bible prophesies that this truth of the Passover will be restored by second coming Christ.

Heb 9:28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

What is salvation for us who are destined to die? It is eternal life. Then what is the way that Christ established to give us eternal life? It is the Passover. Therefore, this Passover can be restored only by Second Coming Christ. Then who is the one who restored the Passover in this last age? He is Christ Ahnsahnghong who established the church of God. He gave us the treasure that is much more valuable than any jewel or precious stone.

Those who slander Christ Ahnsahnghong should consider this prophecy carefully. They might say restoring the Passover is something that anybody could do but who did it besides Christ Ahnsahnghong? If anybody did it, please let me know. I’m very curious about it. Since nobody has claimed to do so, It is correct to say Christ Ahnsahnghong is the only one who restored the Passover. I eagerly urge all of you to study more about the Passover and Christ Ahnsahnghong so that you can understand the treasure hidden in the Bible.
